Dear Friends,
Please consider treating yourself to a day of deep stillness in community with the earth, sky, trees, birds and each other as we come together in the spaciousness of silence—naturally encouraging seeds of compassion, joy, love, and faith to strengthen within us. As we practice stopping, calming and resting our bodies and minds within an atmosphere of peaceful silence at the Trappist Abbey in Carlton, Oregon, we nourish our ability to be present in the moment, and cultivate our capacity to heal wounds within ourselves, our families, our communities, and the world. Both new and experienced practitioners of any or no faith tradition are welcome!
In 2023, our silent days of mindfulness at the Abbey are scheduled for the second Friday of every month, and I will send out a reminder in advance. The suggested donation/ dana for the day is $50.00 (as a group, not individually) and so please prepare accordingly. If you have any questions about the day, you can email me at nisisegor@gmail.com.
Information and Schedule for the Silent Day of Mindfulness at Bethany House:
Together we will enjoy the silence and meditation experienced by the Trappist Monks. The Abbey graciously provides a cart with coffee, hot water and a variety of teas at Bethany House. Bring your own lunch, appropriate clothing for outdoor walking mediation (there are beautiful trails and a pond) as well as any blankets or special cushions for mediation (chairs, cushions and benches are provided).
Safety precautions:
Our practice is flexible, located at Bethany House, and generally follows this schedule:
8:30 – 9:00 am | Overview of the Day | Lower room |
9:00 – 10:45 am | Indoor Meditation | Meditation room |
10:45 – 11:25 am | Outdoor Walking Meditation
11:30 – 12:00 pm | Silent Lunch | Lower room |
12:00 – 2:15 pm | Individual Time
2:15 – 3:15 pm | Indoor Meditation | Meditation room |

This day will be a wonderful opportunity to touch the silence
which can be found within each of us.
“The miracle is not to walk on water.
The miracle is to walk on the green earth,
dwelling deeply in the present moment
and feeling truly alive.”
