Peace Walk Sangha
Beloved Peace Walk Sangha,
Please join us for this Saturday August 1st, 2026 Peace Walk Meditation Practice at 1100 am in Tanner Springs Park in Northwest Portland.
As violence and war escalate in our community, nation and the world our simple practice of Peace Walk makes a difference. Taking mindfull action begins with compassion and kindness.
Aware of the violent conflicts in the world, nation and community we choose to practice walking meditation together in order to cultivate peace within ourselves and the world we share. We choose to engage in skillful action to take care of our feelings of anger, grief, and pain. We intend to hold space for peace for those who are in too much pain and reactivity to consider peaceful resolution to conflict as a workable choice.
When we practice walking meditation in a relaxed and peaceful way, we step not only for ourselves but for the world. When we look at others, we see how their happiness and suffering are linked to our happiness and suffering. “Peace begins with me.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

We neither promote nor take any sides in conflict; rather we practice looking and listening deeply with kindness and compassion to suffering in the world. We use the tools of mindfulness and concentration to practice finding peace within ourselves so that we may offer peace to others. – Thich Nhat Hanh
We do not wish to be partisan in any way with our walking practice. During this practice we will not be displaying signs, chanting slogans, etc. We hope to cultivate a spirit of noble silence and peace through our mindful steps and offer metta to the community and world. ‘
May rivers of peace flow from the steps we take.’ Peace Walk 2025
